Update: Anonymous posting

Looks like anonymous posting is pretty much in real time now so your comments won't need to go through me for approval. That should speed up debate -- whenever people do decide to post, that is.

Again, I'll still have to remove libelous material or four-letter words. This is still a family paper!

I grew up in Grand Forks.
Born and raised there and moved out in 1973. I went back with my father in 1975 to get pick up the things that were in storage when my parents moved later. I'm wondering how much has changed there.
I'm wondering if the city has grown much. ( I live about 30 miles north of Detroit Mi.) which is in most parts a pit.
The downtown area is nice but you can have the rest of the city.
Just thought I would post here because I do miss Grand Forks.
Is the Red Pepper still the best Mexican place to eat ?
Is Howard's Pizza still around?
How about the Italian Moon and their GREAT Grinders ? And Shakee's Pizza ?
Is South Jr. High still standing ?
Is Sherry Kowalski still pretty ?

Hey, can anyone out there help our homesick-friend here? I can answer a few questions but who the heck is Sherry Kowalski?

The Red Pepper is still around and has opened a second branch on 42nd Street, not far from the gas station. I like a grinder now and then, but I'm not sure it's very "Mexican"!

Italian Moon is still around as well.

No Howard's Pizza and no Shakee's Pizza.

"Anonymous," you should come and visit. GF is way bigger than it was but still has a pretty nice hometown feel. I'm not from here, but I feel that way. Maybe you'll want to move back here??

Anonymous, Grand Forks is definitely bigger then 1975. Grand Forks stands at around 53,500 persons.

As to answer some of the questions, South Jr. High where it used to be was turned into an Apartment Complex after the flood. They built the new South Middle School south of town on 47th Avenue South. I'm not sure who and what Sherry Kowalski is, but it/she/he might be still around.

If you got any other questions, don't hesistate to ask!

I used to live in South Middle School turned apartment complex. They did an amazing job retaining the history of the school. Worth a trip to see it!
